Example: Combining written and oral exams
This example contains a written assignment that must be defended orally. The participants submit their assignments in groups which means the FLOWassign or FLOWhandin must be the first flow in FLOWcombine. Afterwards, you can add a FLOWoral. You will now see this image on your flow overview:
You can handle both participants and assessors from your main flow Written assignment in your FLOWcombine, and you do not have to add them manually on all your subflows.
Before activating the flows
Before you activate your FLOWcombine, you want to make the plan for the examination. To get all your participants to the next flow click on Synchronize sub flows, and all your participants from the first flow will be on your FLOWoral (deactivated). You should not change the entrance bar to other than None. Next up is managing the periods.
Activate the flows when necessary. Now, you need the actual participants who shall defend their written assignment orally. Set the entrance bar to handed in or a minimum grade. The participants who did not hand in will be deactivated in the examination periods. You can replace the deactivated participant with a break or simply delete the participant.
In this example the participants need to submit their assignment in a group (Choose group paper as group type and manage the groups in the FLOWassign), but the defence is individual which means the participants will go from being in a group, on the FLOWassign (Written assignment), to being split up on the FLOWoral (Oral defense). This is done in Configuration. Choose participants with group references.
Example: Combining FLOWlock and FLOWmulti
With FLOWcombine you have the opportunity to combine a FLOWlock and a FLOWmulti. In this example the participants must complete both a FLOWlock and a FLOWmulti in three hours.
The main flow is the flow which you synchronise from to the sub flows. You create a new FLOWcombine as the specific flow type of the flow that shall be displayed first. In the example, the FLOWlock is the main flow and FLOWmulti the subflow.
The access (time and date) to the flows works as usual, where you set the start and end time for both participants and assessors. With FLOWcombine, you do not need to add participants, groups, and assessors to each flow, because you can synchronise from the main flow.
How it looks for the participants
When the flows are created as a FLOWcombine, the participant can see that the flows are connected.
