Managers have two ways of communicating with the participants on a flow in WISEflow. When pressing the Messages button on a flow, you will gain access to two different functions. One way is to create custom email messages to send out, which can also be sent to other roles associated with the flow. But in this guide, we are focusing on the other option, the direct messaging.
Direct messaging works, by letting you send messages directly to the participants, so whether they are inside a FLOWlock or FLOWmulti or just roaming the flow page, they will get a window popping up in the foreground, where your message will be displayed.
This tool allows you to get the attention of all your participants to display important messages, before, during and after an examination. As long as the participant is on the flow or online in the lockdown browser, they will receive the message. If they are not currently on the flow, the message will be displayed as the first thing when they open up the flow page as a participant.
The participants will also have access to all messages sent in the past on the flow page and in the lockdown browser. They will be able to reread messages, in case the messages contain important information regarding changes to the exam or the assignments.
Direct messaging overview
When opening the Direct Messaging page, a few different options will be available to you:
- Creating a new direct message in a message editor.
- viewing the details of past messages. Click on a message to get shown
- Seeing the percentage of participants on the flow, who have seen the message.
When clicking on a message that has been sent to the participants, it will open up a new window with details of which participants have seen this message. All participants which are marked as if they have not seen it will see the message as the first thing when they open up the flow again.
Creating a direct message
With the "New direct message" button, it will be possible to create a new direct message for the participants. Clicking it will open up a new window where it is possible to write a message for the participants.
In this window, you have a few options to set up a message for the students with a few different formatting options. Pressing send will immediately send the message to all the participants on the flow the message is sent from.
