You can make use of a variety of tools and features within the WISEflow lockdown browser. The tools and features may differ between FLOWlock and FLOWmulti exams but some functionalities are the same for both exam types.
Functionalities in Lockdown Browser Navigation for Both FLOWlock and FLOWmulti
Inside the lockdown browser, a toolbar at the top shows you the current time (1), invigilation features used on the flow (if any) (2), your battery status (3), any direct messages that have been sent by invigilators or managers (4) as well as any added flow description (5).
You can decide to hide the countdown clock by clicking on the timer (see image below). We recommend to try out the demo flows in WISEflow to familiarise yourself with the tools and features in the lockdown browser.
Click on the small info circle in the top menu. This will open the settings window where you have the option to set a zoom level and apply it.
It is possible to insert symbols that may not be available on your keyboard by clicking on the document icon with a plus sign on the upper left hand side. This will open a pop-up window with a list of available symbols for you to insert.
A search functionality is available inside the lockdown browser for users who are using a Windows operating system.
The search functionality described here is currently not available to users with a MAC operating system. In a FLOWlock, MAC users can use the search functionality in the assignment viewer though. See 3. Search for Words and Through Comments in this article.
A magnifying glass on the upper left hand side opens the search box where you can enter one or several words to be found as well as decide whether the cases should match and the direction of the search (up or down).
It is possible to search for words within response that have been formulated inside the answer editor. While the search functionality does not work for assignments that are opened alongside the answer editor, it is possible to search through any attached assignments via the assignment viewer, when the assignment is opened in a new tab. All the functionalities of the assignment viewer are explained in this article. The search functionality can also be used on permitted internet resources that have been added by a manager.
The search functionality can be used on an item when looking for specific text (elements). Please note that the search functionality only works on the item that your are currently viewing, it will not automatically search through and display all items in the assignment. The search functionality can also be used on permitted internet resources that have been added by a manager.
Please refer to the troubleshooting guide if you experience any problems with the lockdown browser.
Copy & Paste in the Lockdown Browser
When you are testing the demo version of the WISEflow lockdown browser, it is possible for you to copy your notes from the clipboard (by using CTRL+C or CMD+C), open FLOWlock and get access to your notes again by copying them into the browser.
Important: This is only possible in the demo of the lockdown browser. It is not possible to copy from the clipboard outside the browser into a real FLOWlock exam. This is because the system clipboard is cleared when entering the lockdown browser.
During the exam in the lockdown browser, it is still possible to copy and paste, but anything copied before the exam is unavailable.
Toolbar, Navigation and Other Features in FLOWlock and FLOWmulti Exams
In the toolbar you can design your text as you would with any normal text editor (e.g. Word). Design possibilities include: select text block types (e.g. Headline or Paragraph), insert tables, make lists, and disable/enable spellcheck and choose language (if allowed by manager).

Appendix materials are handled with the appendix manager. Appendices can be inserted into the paper by double clicking the arrows.
For a guide to the appendix manager, see the article on using the appendix manager.
On open-ended questions, appendices (drawing tool, file upload, webcam, etc.) can be enabled. Click Manage appendices to open the appendix manager in a new tab. The appendix manager shows you on which item appendix material will be added.
You can preview appendices for the item in the dropdown to the right of the manage appendices button.
For more on the appendix manager see the article Using the Appendix Manager.
If allowed by the manager, you can view permitted internet resources during the exam. According to the settings set by the manager, you can access PDF-files from the computers local storage and/or specific links to domains (e.g. "www.google.com"). For external links, you are locked to the specific domain so that you cannot access embedded links on the page, only if they are within that domain.
