WISEflow has over 50 different question types available for use in FLOWmulti assignments ranging from simple single-best answer questions to those which involve the evaluation of complex mathematical expressions. Most question types support auto-validation although some of the open-ended question types require human scoring. A full summary of the available question types is provided below.

Fill in text with drag & drop: A fill-in-the-blank style question where response tiles can be dragged to the appropriate position in the passage. (Cloze with drag & drop question guide).
Fill in text with drop down: A fill-in-the-blank style question where responses are selected from drop-down boxes within the passage. (Cloze with dropdown question guide).
Fill in text: A fill-in-the-blank style question where free-text responses are entered into text boxes within the passage. (Cloze with text question guide).
Label image with drop down: A fill-in-the-blank style question where responses are selected from dropdown boxes overlaid on the image. (Label image with dropdown question guide).
Label image: A fill-in-the-blank style question where free-text responses are entered into text boxes overlaid on the image. (Label image with text question guide).
Label image with drag & drop: A fill-in-the-blank style question type where response tiles can be dragged and placed within the specified drop zones on the image. (Label image with drag & drop question guide).
Audio recorder: An open-ended question type where an audio capture response is required. Test-takers are provided with a simple audio recording widget to capture their response. This question type does not support auto-scoring. (Audio recorder question guide).
Essay: An open-ended essay question accepting responses of up to 10,000 words and visual formatting of responses. This question type does not support auto-scoring. (Essay with rich text question guide).
Short text: An open-ended text response field that can be used for short, definitive responses. Auto-scoring is available for this question type. (Short text question guide).
Sort list: A variant of the Order list question, only instead of dragging the tiles into a new order, tiles are dragged and placed on a new grid in the required order. (Sort list question guide).
Order list: Requires the provided tiles to be organised into a particular order, for example chronologically. (Order list question guide).
Order sentences: Organise sentences into a specific order.
Pair elements: Response tiles are dragged to be paired with the matching item. This question type also supports the grouping of response tiles to achieve a different set of possible responses for each matching item. (Match list question guide).
Classification: A question type requiring that response tiles are dragged and arranged into categories. Categories can be configured to be represented by words, images or symbols and can support one or several responses per grouping. (Classification question guide).
The mathematics engine in WISEflow is powerful and has a large number of configurable options, settings and formats. It can also support complex scoring and validation methods and evaluate expressions in different ways. For a more general introduction to the maths engine, please see the guide here.
Below is a summary of how the available question types work.
Maths essay: A question type that allows responses composed of rich text and mathematical expressions or values. This type of question is manually scored due to the subjective nature of the rich text response. (Math essay with rich text question guide).
Maths Generator: Allows authors to define parameters and their values from which the system will produce up to 50 possible variants of the question. Test-takers are then presented with a question variant at random. (Math question generator question guide).
Label image - math: A specific type of math - fill in the blanks questions but allowing response fields to be overlaid on a provided image. (Cloze math with image question guide)
Add text to maths: A specific type of math - fill in the blanks questions but configured with the response field inline with text by default.
Fill in the blanks in math formulas: Used to enable the respondent to provide one or more mathematical responses in fields which can be placed either as part of an equation inline with text. (Math - fill in the blanks question guide).
Fractions: A specific type of math - fill in the blanks question but configured in a fraction format by default.
Formula: Used for where a single mathematical expression or value is required as a response to the question. (Math formula question guide).
Matrices: A specific type of math - fill in the blanks questions but configured using matrices in the response template.
Formula with units: A specific type of math - fill in the blanks questions but configured for use with SI/US units by default.
Number line with drag & drop: Requires respondents to drag and drop response tiles to a position on a continuous number line. (Number line with drag & drop question guide).
Horizontal number line: Requires respondents to plot points or ranges on a continuous horizontal number line. (Number line with plot question guide).
Vertical number line: The same as above but points or ranges are plotted on a vertical number line. (Number line with plot question guide).
Graph: Requires respondents to plot points, lines and shapes on a 4 quadrant 10 x 10 unit coordinate grid. (Graphing question guide).
Graph (larger grid lines): The same as above but with larger grid lines.
Graph (first quadrant only): Similar to the graphing question type, but using only the first 10 x 10 unit quadrant.
The chart question types in WISEflow allow test-takers to work with charts in various different formats. Authors can provide data to be plotted or can pre-populate charts to be modified by the respondent. (Chart question guide).
Bar chart: Allows creation or modification of an interactive bar chart.
Line chart: Allows creation or modification of an interactive line chart.
Histogram: Allows creation or modification of an interactive histogram.
Dot plot: Allows creation or modification of an interactive dot plot.
Line plot: Allows creation or modification of an interactive line plot.
Shading: Respondents are presented with a grid of cells and are required to select and deselect cells to provide their response. Auto-validation can be configured to accept exact cells or a count of selected cells. (Shading question guide).
Highlight text: A text-based question where respondents select words or groups of words in a paragraph by clicking on the text (Token highlight question guide).
Hotspot: Respondents are required to identify and click into author-defined target regions on a supplied image. (Hotspot question guide).
Drawing: Respondents are given access to several tools (e.g. pen, compass, ruler) which they can use to annotate a provided background image. This question type does not support auto-scoring. (Drawing question guide).
Chemistry formula: A question type that will accept chemical formulae in a response field that can be configured with advanced validation options. (Chemistry formula question guide).
Fill in chemistry formula: Used where chemical formulae or values need to be inserted for form part of an equation or within a single line of text. (Cloze chemistry question guide).
Chemistry essay: Allows chemical formulae and values to be used in the context of a longer essay response. This type of question is manually scored due to the subjective nature of the rich text response. (Chemistry essay with rich text question guide).
Label image - chemistry: A variant of the close chemistry question where the response fields are overlaid on a provided image. (Cloze chemistry with image question guide).
