New Lockdown Browser Versions
The new versions contain important updates and are available in WISEflow from 14 April. The new versions are:
Windows (incl. Lab version): 2.1.0.06
MacOS: 2.1.0.05
These versions will be required from 28 April.
With this update it will be possible to use a shortcut (cmd+f) as search functionality with MAC operating systems. A search functionality had been available for Windows operating systems since February.

Authoring
Adjusting Scoring/Validation of Flow Version Items (Item Versions)
Authoring FLOWmulti assignments requires authors to define the correct validation and scoring rules for all questions.
Participant facing errors (e.g. question stem and answer option text) are more likely to be detected during authoring and should be resolved by replacing the assignment on the flow with a new corrected flow version prior to participation.
In terms of validation/scoring errors, these are harder to spot during authoring and do not affect the actual exam participation. Resolving scoring/validation errors post examination has up until now been a manual effort for assessors during marking and could potentially be a very time-consuming activity.
Authors can now make scoring and/or validation changes to item versions within the flow version of an assignment, even though it is being used on a flow.
Managers can subsequently apply these author scoring/validation changes to participant submissions.
More information can be found in the article Adjusting Scoring or Validation of Flow Version Items (Item Versions).
Adding Additional Content to Question Text
A new functionality enables authors to add supplemental content to text in the question stem or in passages. This content can be seen by participants via a pop-up window when clicking on the underlined text element. It is possible to add text (max. 250 characters) and an image. The image size cannot exceed 512kb and should not be larger than 250x250 pixel. This new functionality as well as an overview of all toolbar functionalities can be found in the article Using the Question Editor for FLOWmulti Assignments under 2. Question Editor.
Translations for this feature into languages other than English will be implemented in the coming weeks.
Accessibility Improvements
With this release, authors can add ARIA labels to question text or response options to support participants who use screen readers. Screen readers typically read aloud visible text and ARIA labels provide a way of overwriting the visible text with something more meaningful for screen readers without altering the visual representation of the question.
This new functionality as well as an overview of all toolbar functionalities can be found in the article Using the Question Editor for FLOWmulti Assignments under 2. Question Editor.
Custom ARIA Labels on MCQ
On multiple-choice questions, authors also have the ability to add custom ARIA labels to each answer option as well as make visible content in an answer option navigable by a screen reader. Both functionalities (adding a custom ARIA label and making visible content navigable) can be used independently from one another.
We recommend that any content using these features are thoroughly tested using screen readers to ensure the desired results have been achieved.
Translations for accessibility improvements into languages other than English will be implemented in the coming weeks.

Managing
Rescoring Participant Submissions Based on Author Scoring/Validation Changes
Managers can now rescore participant submissions based on scoring/validation changes on item versions made by an author. More detailed information can be found in the article Rescoring Submissions Based on Author Changes to Scoring or Validation.
Show Assignment on FLOWlock Flows After the End of Participation Period
Assignments on FLOWlock flow types are generally not displayed to participants after the participation period has passed. Managers can now decide whether they would like to display the assignment to participants at the end of the participation period. This can be determined in the participation settings for individual flows or it is possible to create a default behaviour for the entire licence.
Turning Off the Option to Submit Blank
Participants have the option to make a blank submission on FLOWassign, FLOWhandin, FLOWlock and FLOWmulti flow types.
It is now possible to turn off the option to make a blank submission either on a flow level or set a default as a licence setting.
New Subpage to Add Additional Managers to a Flow
A new subpage replaces the current way managers can be added to a flow. While functionality how other managers can be added and removed from the flow stays the same, it is an important first step to provide future support for managing flows based on privileges. The new subpage is explained in more detail in the article Managing Authors, Invigilators and Other Managers.

Adjustments, Improvements and Maintenance
New Log for Participation Monitor
A new entry has been added to the log of the participation monitor, called Lockdown: Virtual Camera detected. The new log indicates if a virtual camera app is closed during the start of the lockdown browser. This will only apply to FLOWlock and FLOWmulti flows where facial comparison is fully enabled. A list of the most common log entries and explanations can be reviewed in the article Explanation of Log Entries in the Participation Monitor.
New API Endpoints
API endpoints are continuously released to the production system, independent of the general release cycle for features and functionalities. An up to date list of API endpoints can be found here. An icon will determine whether these endpoints have already been released to the production system () or will be coming soon ().
There are several articles explaining the WISEflow API; the technical documentation on the API endpoints can be found here.
